Stefan Estermann joined the Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of Switzerland in 1996. He was posted as a Deputy Head of Mission in Ukraine (2001-2005) and in Russia (2010-2014). From 2005-2009, he worked as the Chief of Staff of the State Secretary of the FDFA. He was the Swiss Ambassador to Croatia from 2014-2018. Currently, he is heading the Prosperity and Sustainability Division, cooperating with specialized Federal Offices in the Swiss administration to promote foreign policy coherence across a broad range of thematic issues, including economy, finance, environment, energy, health, science and innovation, space and arctic affairs.
