Sonia Peña Moreno is the Coordinator of Global Biodiversity Policy and Governance at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). She has more than 15 years of working experience at the IUCN and has coordinated the organization’s policy work with respect to the Convention on Biological Diversity and other biodiversity-related conventions and agreements. She has also worked at the Ministry of the Environment of Colombia.

A Colombian and Italian national, Sonia holds degrees in Political Science and Modern Languages from the University of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. She also has a master’s degree in International Relations and an Executive Certificate on Environmental Governance from the Graduate Institute in Geneva.
