Rodion Sulyandziga is a human rights activist, a Candidate of Sociological Sciences, a representative of the Indigenous Udege people.
Since 2001, he has worked as the Director of the Russian Indigenous Training Centre, its main objective being the development and implementation of educational programmes for the Indigenous peoples of the North of Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation. The Head of the Centre of Support to Indigenous Peoples of the North (CSIP) that he founded in 2003 to provide educational, legal and consulting services to organisations and communities of Indigenous peoples. The Centre has a special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
He is vice-chair of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) and a member of the Working Group of the Platform of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
